The Current Situation In Sudan.

I know I am somewhat late on the subject, but I felt I should comment on this utter travesty. A school teacher, in accordance with the wishes of her class, names an inanimate object "Mohammed" one of the most common names in the Arabic culture.

Then she was arrested for it, and given a sentence of 15 days in prison for the equivalent of calling a teddy bear "smith". People started going insane over this relatively minor event, it blew up into a major international incident. This level of outrage would be more understandable if she had named it after the religious figure specifically, but the bear was named "Mohammed" after one of the children in her class. It was the children's decision, why not arrest them?

Of course, she was then given the smallest sentence possible, this was the first real grounds for any outrage at all, the lenience towards westerners, for fear of pressure from the USA.

In conclusion though, for a religion of "peace and forgiveness" you wouldn't have expected them to riot in the streets with machetes calling for her execution.

Riots over the teddy bear.
